Biography
Dr. Samer Hajjo is a renowned ophthalmologist and strabismus specialist with over two decades of experience in eye care, optics, and corrective surgery. He graduated from Aleppo University in 1996 and completed his ophthalmology specialization at Damascus University’s Al-Mouwasat Hospital with distinction in 2000.
Early in his career, Dr. Hajjo focused on strabismus and optical disorders, founding Syria’s first specialized strabismus clinic in 1999. In 2003, he furthered his expertise at Necker University Hospital for Children in Paris, earning a certified specialization in strabismus and registering two patented low-cost devices for measuring refractive errors in France.
In 2005, Dr. Hajjo established the Specialized Center for Strabismus and Optics in Damascus, which quickly became a leading destination for patients across Syria and neighboring countries. Today, the center includes three advanced strabismus clinics and a modern optics clinic, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and staffed by ophthalmologists trained under Dr. Hajjo’s mentorship.
Dr. Hajjo has performed thousands of successful strabismus surgeries and treated tens of thousands of patients. He holds five international patents in ophthalmology, has delivered lectures at international conferences, and has taught optics and refractive error management to postgraduate students at Damascus University. He also authored Arabic-language books on optics and medical lenses, contributing significantly to ophthalmic education in the Middle East.
Previously, he oversaw strabismus clinic operations at Al-Mouwasat University Hospital and served as board member and secretary of the Syrian Society of Ophthalmologists. Currently, Dr. Hajjo provides his expertise at medical centers in the UAE, Qatar, Oman, and Syria, continuing to advance eye care across the region.
